I love the Firefox browser. But I hate, hate, hate this little bug that it has.
I have been saving links up in my bookmarks toolbar of stuff that I use a lot. So I threw my blog up there, which does not have one of those cool little picture icon thingies. And I’ve noticed that sometimes Firefox will grab other sites’ icons and use that in lieu of your own, especially if you don’t have one at all.
And now, next to “I, Asshole” on my toolbar is the fugly My Space logo. I know it’s supposed to be little blue people all lined up in a networky-type fashion, but it just looks like a stupid blue foot. Hate.

I hate that too! My solution is to move the link in question next to (to the right of) a folder on the links toolbar and then it never grabs a random icon.
That icon does look like a foot! I downloaded an extension for FX that gives tabs a colored square when there’s no icon. I wonder if it would convert your toolbar links, too.

Ugh. My FF install does the same thing. It seems kinda random though as to which toolbar links will grab which custom icon. Meh…small price to pay, I figure.
My online banking link has a flickr icon beside it. I like that.
Well, I’m not sure, but this might be fixed in Firefox 1.5, which is worth updating to, now that the pimpzilla theme has a 1.5 version.
Next of all, the obvious solution here is for us to come up with an I, Asshole favicon. Duh.
So, here’s what you do…go in paint, or the gimp, or photoshop or whatever and make a 16 x 16 pixel picture (it helps if you zoom way in). Then, save it as a bmp or tiff or png, and email it to me. I will have the little gnomes in my computer take care of the rest.
